Hazards of Technology

“Technology is an obedient servant but a very dangerous master.”

There are countless hazards of making technology your master. It not only harms your physique but also has the capability of affecting your mental health. Today we all are dependent on technology as we are on oxygen. This habit of ours is deteriorating our health day by day. As we are so indulged in it, our physical exercises have turned to number zero. We sit all day long in front of our computer screens or we sit on our beds, sofa sets and then keep doing work on our laptops. Such positions exaggerate pain in an individual’s body. The sufferings may include the following:

● Musculoskeletal diseases

● Neck Pain in students

● Back Pain in office workers

● The strain on the eyes let children take spectacles at an early age

● The critical position of shoulders and elbows leads to shoulder pain.

● Psychological issues like hypertension and depression due to extended work timings.

What can Save You?

Since most of the issues arise from the wrong working postures, it is important to eradicate this basic issue. Here the ergonomics play its role. They say “next posture is the best posture.” Yes, definitely. A correct posture can eliminate these physical health issues very quickly and if they are identified earlier, it can never increase further. Some of the solutions are pointed down.

Rule of 90 degrees: Your Knees, hips, and elbows, three should be aligned at 90 degrees.

● There should be a minimum distance of 20’’ to 22’’ between your eyes and the computer screen.

● The most important point to avoid neck strain is your screen and eyes should be at the same level.

● Use a chair with proper back and neck support.

● Your back and shoulder should be relaxed as it avoids stress and strain.

● A healthy diet with meditation will decrease systemic diseases like hypertension and mental stress.
